INFO KITE & WING SCHOOL

Is prior experience required, and what should I bring to the classes?

No. You can start from scratch, both in kitesurfing and wingfoiling. And for those who already practice a discipline, we also offer training in specialties and advanced levels such as Freestyle, Surfkite, Kitefoil, Surffoil, Wingfoil, and Parawing.

For classes, we recommend wearing comfortable beachwear, a swimsuit or rash guard, and bringing a towel, sunscreen, and, if you wish, sunglasses with a secure fit. It's also a good idea to bring something to cover your head, such as a cap or hat, for when you take off your safety helmet at the beginning or end of the class.

Which sport is better to start with: kitesurfing or wingfoiling?

It depends on your profile, your goals, and the experience you want to have on the water. Kitesurfing tends to attract those looking for a more powerful, radical, and exciting discipline, with a strong sense of traction and great potential for improvement.

The wingfoil, on the other hand, is a very versatile option, ideal for sailing in smaller spaces or with softer or borderline winds, and also offers a very special feeling of flow with the waves, with a freer, smoother and more fluid sailing experience.

How long is the course and how long are the classes?

The initial course has an estimated duration of 10 hours, normally organized into 2-hour sessions, as this format allows for better use of the wind, maintaining good concentration and promoting progressive and safe learning.

Even so, each student progresses differently, so we always adapt the pace, duration and planning of the classes according to the level, objectives and conditions of the day.

What does the kitesurfing or wingfoil course include?

All courses include complete and modern equipment, adapted to the student's level and the wind conditions of the day, a certified private instructor with extensive experience, real-time radio communication and, when conditions require, transfers to the Cauipe lagoon to ensure the best learning environment.

Furthermore, we work with constant coordination between instructor, student and administration to ensure that the entire experience is comfortable, smooth, safe and well organized.

What is the best time of year to learn in Cumbuco?

Cumbuco is one of the world's best destinations for kitesurfing and wingfoiling, with consistent winds for many months, warm water, a clear coastline and flat water in the famous Cauipe lagoon, ideal for learning and progressing.

The windy season runs from June to February, with the strongest winds from August to November. The rainy months are typically March, April, and May; however, even without rain, wind can still blow. While the months closest to the rainy season can be more intense, Cumbuco maintains one of the highest percentages of windy days in the world for much of the year.

Can I combine accommodation and classes with you?

Yes. Many travelers choose us precisely to combine accommodation and classes in the same experience, and we also have special offers on stay + course packages when everything is booked together.

Our inn is right next to the school, making everything much more convenient, practical, and enjoyable: you can relax near the sea, easily get to your classes, and make the most of every day in Cumbuco. It's the perfect way to experience the destination, learn more, and fully enjoy kitesurfing and wingfoiling.
